NHL Trade Deadline Day – Turco To The Flyers?

The Philadelphia Flyers are always a big power player on trade deadline day but the question is whether or not the Flyers will make a move?

They have received some bad news regarding Ray Emery’s hip and it looks like he will be done for the season. They found that out on Tuesday and that could force their hand a little more on Wednesday when the deadline kicks in.

One rumor that is kicking around has the Dallas Stars netminder, Marty Turco, linked to the Flyers as a possible solution for Emery’s hip.

The Stars recently picked up goaltender Kari Lehtonen, which was a peculiar move. The Stars were not in a real need of an improvement for a backup goaltender, so why make the move? Are they preparing to ship off Turco?

Turco would be a great fit in Philadelphia as the Flyers have been looking for a top-notch netminder for years. Meanwhile, the Stars aren’t going anywhere with or without Turco, so they may as well trade him away and try to get some pieces to play with for the future.

The main issue with this trade is that both teams are in no-mans land. The Flyers are in sixth but are just four points inside the playoffs while the Stars in 10th in the West, just two points out. Neither team really knows whether to contend or fade back.

But if we are going with history, it shows that the Flyers will make a big move and Turco would be a great pickup for them.
