NHL Betting – Flyers Stronger Both Short, Long Term After Offseason Trades

There has been no other NHL team that made as big of an impact on their roster this offseason as the Philadelphia Flyers, who made a couple of key trades that stunned the hockey world earlier this summer. The Flyers, just two years removed from an appearance in the Stanley Cup finals, made the decision to trade their team captain Mike Richards and one of their top scorers in Jeff Carter in a couple of key moves that reestablished their entire locker room. It was the two separate trades that stole the headlines, and also made Philadelphia a much better team overall.

Richards was traded to the west coast for young star Brayden Schenn and Wayne Simmonds, while Carter was moved for a first round pick and forward Jakub Voracek. All three players signed with the Flyers upon their arrival, while Philadelphia used its top pick to sign one of the most talented young centers in the draft in Sean Couturier. With the extra money that the team was able to clear, they went out and grabbed the franchise goaltender that they had been so desperate for in free agent Ilya Bryzgalov, and then added another key piece on the wing in veteran Jaromir Jagr. With Daniel Briere and Chris Pronger also back in the fold, the Flyers are set to contend for a Stanley Cup once again not only this year, but for several sports betting years to come.
