Most sources indicate three teams are pushing hard for his services: Edmonton, Los Angeles and Toronto.

The Oiler rumors are growing stronger now that Edmonton doesn’t seem likely to woo Dany Heatley. Kessel would be a younger, cheaper consolation prize. The big question is what they would send back that would satisfy the Bruins but keep Boston under the cap. Most sources believe Andrew Cogliano would definitely be the centerpiece of the package Edmonton ships to Boston, combined with a defensive prospect and a draft pick.

The Leaf rumors are suddenly growing strong again. Does that really surprise you? If two teams were that close to striking a deal in June, it wouldn’t make sense for them to just walk away based on spite. The Bruins know that Tomas Kaberle is a very Northbet.com betting valuable defenseman at his bargain salary of $4.25 million and the Leafs know (a) that they have a logjam of starters at defense and (b) that they have no scoring up front.

Don’t be surprised if Tomas Kaberle waives his no-trade clause (it’s back in effect) and ends up a Boston Bruin in exchange for Kessel before the regular season starts. Boston was on his shortlist of teams he would consider playing for and he’s more likely to accept a move before the season starts, as he’d have a full 82 games to gel with his teammates.
